Encaustic Wax & Foil Collage

encaustic workshop with cory ceyala The first part of this workshop will introduce you to Encaustic basics, painting with hot colored wax, and thermal monoprinting. Also the correct use and care of the thermal Encaustic tools. I will bring the thermal tools and wax for you to use during class.

The second part of the workshop will included the use of the monoprints, text, glazes, paint, ephemera, photo images, stamped images, and foils as collage.

Each student will make 3 to 5, 3 ½ x 5 mini collages, all creatively different.

Supply List

Items in Italic bold may be shared.

Six, 3 ½ x 5 cut pieces of mat board white on one side any color on the other.

Ten, 4x6 white, glossy cardstock.

Two or three sheets of white or eggshell cardstock

Scissors

A bottle of Aileen’s tack it over and over glue.(no substitute please)

Q-tips.

Bottled acrylic paint, (deco art, folk art etc.) white, plus two or three other colors of your choice. ( I usually use ultramarine blue, red, hunter green, lemon yellow, hot pink, orange, purple, etc. Strong colors, no wishy washy pastels for this project.

Old magazines, everyone donates three or four to the community pile. (no glamour or food type magazines please.)
