From Beads to Junk
Cory Celaya from Arizona
Friday April 27th 10- 5 pm
Cost $95
Make a length adjustable and convertible necklace/bracelet using found items such as electrical components, old flattened and refinished bottle caps, a tiny book we will make in class, faux resin finishes on metal and paper, old jewelry, beads, and lots of layers of junk that may be cold joined, wired, or invented.
Supply Acquisition (see also supply list to the right):
Almost all the materials can be obtained from old broken jewelry, dismantled computer parts, recycling yards, the town dump, abandoned buildings, and dumpsters. NOTE: Things you need to know before you start the search:
1. Do not wear open toe shoes. ( a scorpion bit my toe once, not fun.)
2. Wear old clothes, long sleeves, and gloves. (no need to bathe beforehand.)
3. Always ask for permission before entering someone else’s property. (they may own a gun, if the pit bull doesn’t get you first.)
Also, don’t forget your local auto repair shops, neighborhood bars, (great for bottle caps) and of course keep your eyes to the ground, you never know what you will find. (always carry a plastic baggie for your new found treasures.)
